A 5th Generation Chico Native, Kami Denlay has been at the forefront of preserving Chico’s quality of life while ensuring our neighborhoods are safe. Working side-by-side with community leaders, Kami has fought to keep our parks clean, protect our waterways and offer real solutions to our growing homeless problem.

While attending Pleasant Valley High, Kami began her lifetime of serving others. A Junior Volunteer at Enloe Hospital, Kami found the joy of assisting those in need. Kami’s servants’ heart led her to other volunteer endeavors, including feeding Chico’s impoverished.

As a mom of four, Kami watched as the idyllic community she grew up began to suffer from poor decisions made by many other California cities. These harmful policies, including an ill-conceived needle exchange program, led to increased crime and homelessness. Her love for Chico prompted her to join with her neighbors and speak up for Chico families.

As your city councilmember, Kami will seek to increase transparency in Chico City Government while reforming failed programs. This includes working with community stakeholders, business leaders and non-profits to find real solutions to assist our homeless.

Kami recognizes, while some police departments around the country lack in needed police reforms, the Chico Police Department has been ahead of the curve. Increasing Chico Police Department personnel will be a top priority.

A belief that public service is fundamental to good government, Kami is proud to join with hundreds of community members to ensure all families have a voice on the Chico City Council.
